Cat in the Hat is turning 50! Dr. Seuss only used 236 words in the Cat in the Hat and to celebrate the books birthday, a new project, Project 236 has started to promote and support literacy. One recent study showed that in middle class neighborhoods children have on average 13 books per child whereas poor children had only one book for every 300 children.
